Our Treatment Options

Thanks to advanced technology, there are many different treatment options to improve your smile. At Brian S. Nylaan, D.D.S., we understand how important it is to love your smile. A confident, healthy smile expresses who you are, so we do everything we can to ensure you can be your true self. Some of our cosmetic services include:

What is Cosmetic Dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry is a collection of procedures designed to improve the appearance of your smile. Our expert team provides treatment options with both restorative and aesthetic benefits. With advanced technology such as panoramic x-rays, i-CAT™ digital imaging, intraoral cameras, and dental lasers, your cosmetic treatments can be done more effectively and more economically. Whether you’re struggling with unwanted gaps, stains, chips, or cavities, we can create a treatment plan that fits your lifestyle and your budget.

The Building Blocks of Cosmetic Dentistry

Most cosmetic treatments will start with one of three treatments, such as bonding, fillings, and crowns. The severity of decay, trauma, or aesthetic concern will determine which treatment is appropriate. Our team is very skilled at diagnosing and treating a variety of conditions and providing you with the information you need to make an informed decision about your care.

Cosmetic Bonding: This is the least expensive and minimally invasive option for repairing small chips, cracks, or enamel defects. We use a natural-colored composite material to carefully fill in affected areas and artistically shape a tooth that looks and feels natural.

Composite Fillings: Although we offer both metal and composite fillings, only the composite material works for aesthetic repairs. These fillings are especially useful for repairing areas that are highly visible when you smile. Small to medium areas of decay can be fixed quickly and easily to help stop further damage.

Inlays & Onlays: When the damage is too large for a filling, but not big enough to need a crown, an inlay or onlay can provide the perfect solution. These prosthetics are digitally designed and fabricated out of durable composite material. We use strong adhesive to secure it so it will look great and last for many years.

Porcelain Crowns: If a tooth is cracked, broken, or has a large area of decay, a crown can cover and protect it down to the gum line. Crowns are incredibly versatile and used for many different cosmetic and restorative treatments. They are used on their own to repair a single tooth, combined in a bridge to replace one to three teeth and provide the finishing touch for root canal therapy or a dental implant.

Improve Your Smile with Custom Dental Veneers

As opposed to crowns that cover the entire tooth, veneers are thin coverings that are designed to cover only the front surface. Each veneer is shaped to compliment your smile and to disguise imperfections. They can cover stains, chips, and cracks, as well as visually correct crooked teeth and uneven spacing.

Porcelain veneers are known for their durability, natural appearance, and flexibility. Veneers only require minimal removal of your original enamel to fit correctly, and they can last for many years with proper care.

TouchWhite Laser Whitening

TouchWhite is a fast, gentle, and minimally invasive laser-assisted teeth whitening treatment that uses advanced wavelength technology. TouchWhite has proven to be very comfortable for patients while achieving the same high-quality results. This procedure usually requires two visits. During the first appointment, Dr. Brian S. Nylaan will make the impression of your teeth and fabricate custom, clear plastic trays. In the second appointment, you will try on the trays for a proper fit. Our specialist will then make any adjustments and apply a barrier to protect your tongue, lips, and soft tissues. Finally, the whitening agents will be applied and activated using a dental laser.

If you wish to join a program that will help you maintain a beautiful, whiter smile, the whitening for life program is your ultimate plan. It includes:

  • Custom-fitted whitening trays with a full whitening kit.
  • After your six month cleaning and exam appointment, you go home with a FREE refill tube of whitening solution.
  • Damaged or lost applicator trays will be replaced at no extra cost, as long as you store and provide the models.

Invisalign & Sure Smile

A beautiful smile boosts self-confidence and impacts your overall quality of life. Today’s modern dentistry offers a variety of methods for straightening your teeth that are more effective and more economical than traditional methods.

Invisalign is a set of custom-designed aligners that are customized specifically for your teeth and can correct mild to moderate alignment issues. The aligner trays are made of a transparent, comfortable material that you can remove for eating and brushing your teeth. SureSmile is an adaptation of regular metal braces that makes use of advanced 3D imaging and robotics to speed up the treatment process. This option can treat more severe alignment issues effectively and more economically than previous methods. Dr. Nylaan can help you determine which option will fit your lifestyle and help you achieve your aesthetic goals.

Using Lasers for Better Cosmetic Dentistry

Laser dentistry can treat various dental conditions quickly and effectively. They can be used on both soft or hard tissue without the noise and vibration of regular drills. Lasers create light energy in a narrow and focused beam to remove or reshape the tissue. Some of the issues we can treat with lasers include:

  • Teeth hypersensitivity
  • Tooth decay
  • Gum disease
  • Discoloration
  • Tissue regeneration
  • Wrinkles
  • Snoring

At Brian S. Nylaan, D.D.S., we use lasers to make your procedures more comfortable and to achieve better results. Lasers are a great example of how art and science can be combined to improve function and aesthetics at the same time. SmoothLase, for instance, is a unique facial rejuvenation procedure that effectively smoothens wrinkles in the upper lips. Dr. Nylaan will use a Fotona LightWalker® ATS system to apply the laser to the skin within your mouth, tightening the surrounding tissue from the inside out. SmoothLase can significantly improve the appearance of old skin around your mouth, lips, chin, cheeks, jawline, and under the eyes.

NightLase® is another effective procedure that reduces snoring. NightLase® Laser Snoring Therapy is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure that uses lasers to shrink and tighten the soft palate, uvula, and surrounding tissue, thereby minimizing or eliminating snoring. The muscles around the airway become firmer and less susceptible to collapse.

Gum Disease Treatment for Balanced Oral Health

The treatment goal for gingivitis is to identify and eliminate any factors that make you more susceptible to gum disease. By merely establishing thorough and consistent oral hygiene habits and having regular dental cleaning, you can reduce some of these factors. If gingivitis has resulted in periodontal disease and you have deep pockets that are hard to clean, Dr. Nylaan may recommend deep scaling and root planing. We may also carry out a surgical procedure known as flap surgery to make the areas around your teeth easier to clean and floss.

Root planing and scaling help to deep clean your teeth down to the roots under the gum line. Some of the benefits of root planing and scaling include:

  • Stops gum disease
  • Prevents tooth loss
  • Prevents tooth decay
  • Protects the tooth root
  • Eliminate bad breath

Restore Your Smile with Dental Implants

Dental implants are metal posts that are surgically fitted in the jawbone beneath the gums. Once dental implants are placed, Dr. Nylaan will mount a custom restoration to complete the treatment. Since dental implants fuse with your jawbone, they offer stable support for artificial teeth. When dentures or bridges are mounted on implants, they won’t slip or shift in your mouth, which is especially important when eating and speaking. To receive implants, your gums need to be healthy and have adequate bone to support the implant. Meticulous oral hygiene and regular visits to the dentist are critical to the long-term benefits of dental implants.

Bone Grafts

Grafting is a unique surgical procedure used to correct bone and tissue loss due to age or trauma. It’s also useful for adding tissue around dental implants for structural stability. The bone used for grafting can be taken from other parts of your body or a donor, or it can be synthetic. Our practice places and restores dental implants, and we have an oral surgeon who helps with bone grafts as well.

Full Mouth Reconstruction

If you have significant damage to your oral health, you may be a candidate for full mouth reconstruction. Multiple missing teeth, cracked or broken teeth, and dental trauma are all issues that can be corrected using a comprehensive treatment plan such as full mouth reconstruction. Patients who were born with health conditions such as Ectodermal Dysplasia or genetic conditions may also benefit from this treatment. Brian S. Nylaan D.D.S. offers full mouth reconstruction to correct dental issues that affect all teeth in the mouth. The treatments may include onlays, crowns, veneers, bridges, or dental implants.

All-On-Four Dental Implants

All-On-4 dental implant solutions will anchor your bottom or top denture to four implant posts. Once the implants are placed, Dr. Nylaan will attach your final denture to give you a brilliant smile.
